McDonald’s USA has issued a voluntary recall of its four Shrek Forever After glassware recently offered in its U.S. restaurants.

Stop using the glasses and visit www.mcdonalds.com/glasses beginning June 8 for instructions on how to return them and get a refund.

McDonald’s had the glassware was evaluated by an independent third-party laboratory and they determined the glasses were in compliance with all federal and state requirements. But the Consumer Product Safety Commission has evolved their safety standards for cadmium in consumer products. McDonald’s determined in an abundance of caution that a voluntary recall of the Shrek Forever After glasses was appropriate.

The Shrek Forever After glassware was offered in four glass designs at McDonald’s restaurants beginning May 21. The four designs include Puss n’ Boots, Shrek,Princess Fiona and Donkey. Customers can get instructions to return the glassware and request a refund by visiting www.mcdonalds.com/glasses beginning June 8. Customers can also call McDonald’s toll-free number at 1-800-244-6227. Previous McDonald’s promotional glassware is not involved in the recall.

The 3 McDonalds in Iceland have been shut down - victims of the World Wide Recession.  According to the Associated Press:

Iceland's three McDonald's restaurants -- all in the capital Reykjavik -- will close next weekend, as the franchise owner gives in to falling profits caused by the collapse in the Icelandic krona.

McDonalds 2009 Monopoly Game started October 6th and ends November 2nd in Stores and November 16th Online. There are 542,033,850 pieces available for distribution: 487,7220,050 in the U.S., 54,311,800 in Canada.

Monopoly Game pieces are found on

• Large Fries
• Medium to Large fountain drinks
• Angus Burgers
• Chicken McNuggets (0 to 20 pieces)
• Large McCafe drinks
• Breakfast Hash Browns.

Players can enter game piece codes online and participate via Facebook and Twitter.

Here are the odds for the rare Monopoly pieces. You'd eat a lot of Chicken Nuggets to get Boardwalk.

Commuters on some of the nation's busiest public transit systems will get more than expected, courtesy of McDonald's -- a free ride and a coupon for a free Angus Third Pounder premium burger. Other promotions are taking place throughout the country.

Running throughout the month of September, McDonald's will offer commuters in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and Washington, D.C. a free transit pass and a coupon for a free Angus Third Pounder while supplies last.

UPDATE: On Wednesday September 23, in Chicago, McDonalds will be distributing more than 5,000 pre-paid transit fare cards and 5,000+ coupons for free Angus Burgers to morning commuters at 10 CTA El, three Metra commuter rail and one South Shore rail stations throughout the Chicagoland area.
